A little bit about our cooking workshops.....

When you walk in the door, you are transported to an Italian home kitchen. Cooking workshops are led not only by percorsoItaliano teachers, but also by cooking professionals, talented home cooks, and those passionate about food and regional cuisine. When possible, we try to invite people from Italy to highlight different regions and their local cuisines, which provides a great escape from the classroom.

Cooking workshops are open to students of all levels of Italian from beginner to advanced. **We offer workshops during each session and they often sell out, so if you’d like to hear about them as soon as they’re announced, we encourage you to subscribe to our newsletter at the bottom of this page.

You will learn vocabulary related to ingredients, kitchen tools, and food, and receive hands-on cooking instruction under the guidance of a native Italian speaker. We often have participants from outside percorsoItaliano, so it is a nice opportunity to meet others who are passionate about Italian food. After introductions and an explanation of the inspiration for the workshop’s theme, we go over the menu, reading the recipes out loud in order to focus on new vocabulary and practice pronunciation. You will then dive headfirst into a recipe, whether it involves rolling out homemade pasta dough or gently incorporating the ingredients of zabaglione into a tiramisù. You’ll have the opportunity to discover new wine producers that you can access in the Seattle area when you recreate the meal at home. After we’ve prepared the menu, we sit down at a beautiful table to speak Italian and enjoy a leisurely meal accompanied by selected Italian wines that complement the various courses and showcase Italy’s diverse wine regions.
